Minwax® Antique Oil Finish

Antique Oil

Minwax® Antique Oil Finish is an oil-based protective finish that gives wood a soft, hand-rubbed lustre. It is durable, easily maintained, and highly resistant to staining. Minwax® Antique Oil Finish may be used over finished and unfinished wood.


Product Details

Application tool: cloth or brush
Dry time: 5-10 minutes prior to buffing
Recoat: after 24 hours
Cleanup: mineral spirits or paint thinner following manufacturer’s safety instructions
Coverage: 125-150 sqaure feet per quart
Coats: 2 or 3
Recommended uses: furniture, antiques, woodwork, cabinets, doors, paneling, accessories

Directions

WARNING! Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may generate dust or fumes that contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. Directions

  1. Sand to obtain a smooth, uniform surface.  Remove all dust with a cloth dampened with mineral spirits.
  2. Wipe or brush on a generous coat of Minwax® Antique Oil.  Apply in the direction of the grain.
  3. After 5-10 minutes, buff evenly with a clean, lint-free cloth.
  4. Wait 24 hours and apply a second coat.  Two coats are recommended.
  5. For additional gloss, third coat after 24 hours.

Clean-Up: Use mineral spirits or paint thinner following manufacturer’s safety instructions

Coverage: Approximately 62-75 square feet per pint.

Note: If buffing is difficult, recoat surface immediately and buff.  Not recommended for floors.
