Q. If I want extra durability, can I apply a clear topcoat over Minwax® Water Based WoodSheen®?

Yes. For extra durability without added color, wait three hours after applying Minwax® Water Based WoodSheen®, and then apply Minwax® Polycrylic®, Minwax® Water Based Polyurethane, or Minwax® Water Based Wipe-On Poly.

Q. Is Minwax®Water Based WoodSheen®available in VOC restricted areas?

Yes. Water Based WoodSheen®can be sold in VOC restricted areas of the US.

Q. How do I apply Minwax® Water Based WoodSheen®?

Minwax® Water Based WoodSheen® is very easy to use. Apply the product to bare wood. Wipe it onto the wood with a clean cloth, moving in the direction of the wood's grain. Wipe away any excess, again moving in the direction of the wood's grain. And that's it; you're done.

WARNING! Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may generate dust or fumes that contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. SURFACE PREPARATION:

  • Sand the wood smooth.
  • Remove all sanding dust.

STAIN APPLICATION:

  • Shake the bottle.
  • Test color on a hidden area of the wood to verify desired results.
  • Apply liberally with a clean, soft cloth.
  • Remove excess by wiping lightly, in the direction of the wood grain, with a clean cloth.
  • For an even deeper color and sheen, wait one hour, then apply a second coat.
  • Wait overnight before subjecting the wood to normal use.

For extra durability without added color, wait three hours, then apply Minwax® Polycrylic®, Minwax® Water Based Polyurethane, or Minwax® Water Based Wipe-On Poly.

CLEANUP: soap and water.

COVERAGE: 60-65 square feet per bottle.
