Clean Up Your Mudroom
A beautiful storage solution conquers the clutter
Just because a mudroom is used primarily for storage, it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. It’s a cluttered space that serves as a depository for your family’s muddy boots, shoes, gloves, sports equipment, etc. But it’s easy to make even the most disorganized mudroom into a model of efficiency and style.
For this specific project, all it took was four unfinished pine modules: Three 13 1/2" by 52" units, and one 13 1/2" by 39" unit. After a quick sanding and prep with an application of Minwax® Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner, you’re ready to stain. To get a beautiful stain and topcoat in one easy step, use Minwax® Polyshades®. For this project, the color was achieved with two coats of Minwax® Polyshades® Classic Oak in a satin sheen.
Once the staining is complete, arrange the three larger modules vertically along the wall of your mudroom. Then, lay the shorter module horizontally across the floor, where it will serve as both shoe/boot storage, and a bench. The end result: an ordered, uncluttered mudroom that makes coming and going easier than ever.
