Intermixing is a process of combining two or three colors of oil-based stains to create a custom blend. We asked some of our partners, @ChrisLovesJulia, to create their own Signature Mix by intermixing two or more of our oil-based stains to bring their custom color to life.

Layering is the process of overlapping multiple coats of stains in different colors to add depth and dimension. Start by applying oil-based stain using a Purdy brush, wiping off the excess with a lint-free rag. Then, choose a secondary tone to achieve your custom look. Apply it with a brush, then use a rag to blend the colors together while wiping off the excess. Another option is to use Minwax Design Series Color Wash over stain for a transparent layer of color.
