Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. For more information, call the National Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD (in US) or contact your local health authority.
  • APPLICATION OVERVIEW
STEP 1: SAND THE FLOORWhether you have a bare wood floor, or a wood floor that already has a finish on it, you will need to sand the floor to prepare it for finishing. Rent or purchase a floor sander. Follow the sander manufacturer’s directions to prepare your floor. If you have factory finished floors, please consult a flooring professional before using this product. You will need to sand your floor down to bare wood if:Your floor’s finish is cracking, peeling, or completely worn away in areas, orShellac, lacquer, wax, or products containing wax or stearates have been applied to the floor, orIf you want to make your existing floor a lighter color. You can do a “screen and recoat” if:Your existing finish is in good condition, with no chipping, peeling, or worn through areas, andShellac, lacquer, wax, or products containing wax or stearates have not been applied to the floor. For a “screen and recoat,” there is no need to remove your existing floor finish. Instead, you can simply “screen” the existing finish using a 150-180 grit screen to prepare it for the addition of a new finish. For “Bare Wood,” If you have sanded the floor down to bare wood, or you have a new, unfinished wood floor, sand and prepare the floor following the sander manufacturer’s directions, ending with 100 grit sandpaper or equivalent. Then dampen the bare floor with water, allow to dry and then screen with a 320 grit maroon pad. Remove all sanding dust. Then for all floors, after sanding remove all sanding dust. Thoroughly vacuum and wipe the wood with a clean, damp cloth to remove any remaining dust. Allow the wood to dry completely.STEP 2: APPLY MINWAX® COMPLETE 1-STEP FLOOR FINISHThoroughly stir Minwax® Complete 1-Step Floor Finish using a stir stick for at least one minute before application . DO NOT SHAKE. Product should be at room temperature for best results.Always test product on an inconspicuous area of the floor to verify the desired color. The existing color of your floor will determine the color of the final finish.Use a new synthetic painter’s pad. Wet the pad evenly with Complete 1-Step Floor Finish.Apply an even coat following the length of the floor boards in the direction of the wood grain. Do not stop in between boards. For best results, apply from one end of the room to the other.Maintain a wet edge and avoid leaving dry spots while applying the finish.Allow the finish to dry for at least two hours, but less than 24 hours. If this timing is followed, no sanding between coats is needed.Note: If the finish dries for more than 24 hours, sand the finish lightly with a 320 grit maroon pad. Excessive sanding will remove color from the floor.Surface must be free of dust before applying second coat. Apply a second coat following the steps above. For bare wood, a third coat is recommended. Additional coats will produce a deeper color.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF USING MINWAX® HARDWOOD FLOOR CLEANER?

Minwax® Hardwood Floor Cleaner has been exclusively formulated for use on hardwood, laminate, and pre-finished floors. Unlike other surface cleaners, Minwax® Hardwood Floor Cleaner is designed to clean wood floors without leaving a residue, which other all-purpose cleaners may leave.

CAN I USE MY MINWAX® HARDWOOD FLOOR CLEANER ON FINISHED HARDWOOD FLOORS, LAMINATES, AND PRE-FINISHED FLOORING?

Yes. Minwax® Hardwood Floor Cleaner can be used on surfaces such as laminates and pre-finished floors in addition to hardwood floors.

DOES MINWAX® HARDWOOD FLOOR CLEANER NEED TO BE MIXED WITH WATER?

No. It comes premixed and ready to use.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MINWAX® HARDWOOD FLOOR CLEANER IS ACCIDENTALLY USED IN EXCESS ON OILED, WAXED OR RAW WOOD SURFACES?

Minwax® Hardwood Floor Cleaner will not permanently damage wood. If the product is accidentally left on a wood surface finished with wax or oil, the finish may turn white, as it would if water were left on it for a long period of time. If the application of more finish does not repair the whitened areas, then reapply the oil finish using fine steel wool.
