They are similar in that they are both 5x thicker than traditional stains for easier application control and less mess. They are both available in three grab-&-go colors, and are both tintable to 200+ colors. What is different is how opaque they are. Semi-Transparent stain allows you to add color to your wood surface, while highlighting beautiful wood grain. Solid Stain offers a more opaque finish that hides more wood grain, but maintains the natural texture of real wood. Solid Stain will give you a more even, consistent color across the entire surface.
For best results, we recommend using a high quality synthetic brush to apply a liberal coat of Solid Stain. Within three minutes of applying, use a synthetic pad (similar to those used for paint; not a "stain pad") to remove the excess stain, moving with the direction of the grain. This application method will mitigate differences in pressure and give the most even color.
